Mr. J.P. Lingold, one of Baldwin county's well known farmers, is reported to be critically ill at the city hospital where he has been for the past several days. Mr. Lingold resides in the Scottsboro neighborhood, and is one of the oldest men of that section. He has served as the Justice of the Peace of the district, and is a member of Camp Dan Sanford, Sons of Confederate veterans.
Mr. Jonathan Peter Lingold passed away Monday, April 30th, at the city hospital, after an illness of several weeks.
The funeral and burial services of Mr. Lingold were held at the Oak Grove Methodist church in the Southern part of the county, Wednesday morning at eleven o'clock, Rev. J.M. Guest officiating. The pall-bearers were: Judge E.R. Hines, Messrs. Louis Carr, Carlisle Giles, J.C. Cooper, W.J. Haynie, P.N. Bivins, O.M. Conn, A.T. Swann, George W. Hollinshead, W.B. Richardson, George Edwards, G.C. McKinley, O.M. Ennis, J.H. Ennis and W.L. Harrison.
Mr. Lingold was sixty-nine years of age, and was born, and grew to manhood and spent his life in the southern part of the county in the Scottsboro neighborhood, where he engaged in farming. He served as a constable of his district and was a familiar figure around the courthouse, when court was in session for a long number of years, serving as a baliff. He was an active member of Camp Dan Sanford Sons of Confederate Veterans, and a member of the Oak Grove Methodist church, serving as a member of the Board of Stewards. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Willie Lingold; two sons, Messrs. Fred and Arrie Lingold; one sister, Mrs. Mary Akerage, and a half brother, Mr. Charlie Bales.
