Docia Rebecca Jordan Cole was born to a large farming family in Shellman, GA in 1887. After she married Sam Dossey Cole in 1904, they eventually moved to the Dover, FL area. She was the mother of 11 children (Colie, who died in early childhood, Vellan, Berlin, Foy, Malcolm, Neva, Bessie, Kathryn, unnamed stillborn boy, Dorothy, and Betty Jean who also died in early childhood). She was not a woman of many words, but she had a heart of gold, worked hard for her family and had a green thumb. She loved flowers and gardening. She died at the age of 93, leaving many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
