Andy Brooks, Queensbury Heights, Middlesboro, died Sunday Sept 13, at 3 a.m. in a hospital at Middlesboro. He was 54 years of age. He was born in Claiborne County, TN, the son of the late H. H. and Cornie Monday Brooks. He was married to Miss Ida Hurst on January 15, 1925.
Mr. Brooks was a machinist for L and N Railroad for 34 years and retired from L and N three years ago. He formerly lived at loyall but since his retirement had his home in Middlesboro and was a member of the old Yellow Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Brooks of Middlesboro; sons, Harry Brooks , Cincinnati, Ohio; Eugene Brooks, with the U.S. Air Force at Nashville, TN; Auburn Brooks of Loyall; Kenneth and Larry Brooks of Middlesboro; daughters, Mrs. George Lee, Jr. of Payne, OH; Mrs. Bruce Cawood, Jr. of Harlan; Mrs. John Latimer of Los Angeles, CA; Mrs. Lawrence Langford of Cumberland Gap; brother, Dexter Brooks of Ewing; sisters, Mrs. Ruthie Rowlett; Mrs. Bertha Rowlett; Mrs. Vola Thomas, all of Ewing and Nannie Rowland of Loyall; ten grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Old Yellow Creek Baptist church Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Fernde Robinson, James Kinser and jesse Buell officiating. Burial in the Richmond Cemetery in Ewing.
