George Edward Brown, 53, Elston, died Monday at St. Mary's Health Center(Jefferson City). He was born Sept. 22, 1940, in Brumley, a son of Walter and Ova Harrison Brown. His mother survives in Brumley. He was married Nov. 5, 1966, in Eldon to Marilyn Steen, who survives at the home.
He was a 1958 graduate of the School of the Osage. He worked for the Missouri National Guard for 18 years and was employed by Hill Equipment, Jefferson City, for 20 years.
He had been a farmer in Elston since 1976. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of the American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5, Jefferson City, and the National Rifle Association. He attended the Elston Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: one son, Joe Brown, Richland; three sisters,Roma Boatman and Alice Tannehill, both of Eldon, and Ellen McCubbin,Pacific. A daughter, Grace Brown, died in 1970.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Earl Hoskins, Jr. and the Rev. C.D. Butler will officiate. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Livingston Cemetery,near Iberia. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the Elston Baptist Church Building Fund.
