Everette "Newt" Alford 57 died Thursday in a Baldwin County hospital. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Martin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Baldwin Memorial Gardens. The Rev. James Nipper will officiate.
Mr. Alford, a native of Hancock County, lived in Baldwin County most of his life. He was a mechanic with the City of Milledgeville and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Hardwick Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lucy Sloan Alford of Milledgeville; a son, James E. Alford of Milledgeville; a daughter, Mrs. Frances Joyner of Milledgeville; three brothers, Douglas Alford and Gene Alford, both of Milledgeville, and Thomas Alford of Gray; three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Howe of Decatur, Mrs. Gladys Martin of Sparta and Mrs Alice Dunn of Milledgeville; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
