Betsey married William Avery from New York on 6 September 1851 in Wood County. She had six children with three surviving in 1900: Matilda (1852), Minerva(1854), Mason(1857), Ella (1867), Charles(1870) and Elbert Bedford(1874). Her parents, Mahlon and Frances Fanny Cooper Meeker, were from New Jersey and Maryland. Betsey died from valvular heart disease at the age of 79 years 9 months and 25 days.
