George Vincent Buffington, 59, of Laurel, MS, died Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, September 1, 2014 in Ellisville City Cemetery. Burial will be in Ellisville City Cemetery.

He served in the U.S. Navy and fought in the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his father, George F. Buffington; step-father, James M. Cantrell Sr. and brothers, James M. Cantrell Jr. and Travis L. Cantrell.

Survivors include his most beloved Mother, Roberta J. Cantrell; son, Jerrod Buffington (Katie Jo); daughter, Tammy Buffington; god-son, Nathan Cantrell; brother, Alvin E. Cantrell (Kim); sister, Debbie A. Hutto (Gary); companion, Joan Dykes; mother of his son, Kay Buffington and a host of nieces and nephews, whom he had a special place in his heart for each one.

Pallbearers will be Gary Hutto, Jack Hutto, Nathan Creel, Frank Creel, Lee Jefcoat and Timmy Dearman. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Touchstone, Freddie Blackwood, Eric Hunter and Johnny A. Daniel.

Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel, MS is in charge of arrangements.
