Esther I. Blubaugh, 79, a resident of Falling Spring Nursing Home and formerly of 5887 Molly Pitcher Highway South, both of Chambersburg, died at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2000, in the nursing home. She had been in failing health for the past six years and critically ill for the past month.

Born Jan. 28, 1921, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Daniel S. and Minnie (Utz) Blubaugh. She lived her early life in Waynesboro and attended schools in Waynesboro and Quincy.

During World War II, Miss Blubaugh worked at Fairchild Aircraft Manufacturing Co., Hagerstown. She later worked for Publix Shirt Corp., Waynesboro, during the late 1940s.

Miss Blubaugh lived music and enjoyed singing hymns with her family.

She is survived by one sister, Frances Ruth Parmer of Chambersburg; three brothers, John Blubaugh of Berkeley Springs, W. Va., Ted S. Blubaugh of Marion and Robert Ordean Blubaugh of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
