Ruby Alice Hundley Chaney, 83, of 309 N. 7th Ave., died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at her home. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Colonial Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Lemons officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Chaney was born on April 17, 1921, in Rockingham County to the late James Walter Hundley and the late Lillar Columbia Manring Hundley. She was retired from Macfield, Inc., and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Chaney, son Franklin Chaney, daughter Martha Manuel, brothers, Collie, Cyrus, Bouge and Hassell Hundley, sisters, Mammie Holt, Mary Hill, Mattie Bullins, Rosie Plaster, grandsons, James Ryan Chaney and Randy Chaney and great-grandson Jacob Adkins. Survivors include her sons, Steve Chaney and wife Dorothy of Madison, Carson Chaney and wife Delores of Walnut Cove, Gene Chaney and wife Penny of Georgia; daughters, Vera Tuggle, Betty Patton, Christine Via and husband Larry, all of Mayodan, Rilla Webb and husband Daniel, Barbara Dunlap and husband Ricky, both of Stoneville, Carolyn Sizemore and husband Johnny of Madison; brother James Yules Hundley and wife Charlotte of Stoneville; sister Nina Ore of Madison; 42 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home and all other times at the residence. Colonial Funeral Home of Madison is serving the family.
