He was a native of Montgomery, Ala., who had lived in Lumpkin County for the past 21 years. He was the son of the late Rev. and Mrs. James V. Casteel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Mae Casteel, Dahlonega; brothers, James E. Casteel and Joe Clyde Casteel; sister, Martha Casteel.
Survivors include his son, William S. Casteel Jr., Atlanta; daughter, Catherine Portillo, Canton; sisters, Ruth Foster, Edna Tadlock, both of Dahlonega, and Mary Frances Casteel, Weatherford, Texas; brothers, Earnest Eugene Casteel, Zwolle, La., John Calvin Casteel, McDonough; and one granddaughter.
