Mayflower Descendant - He was a 3rd generation Mayflower Descendant in the line of John and Priscilla Alden who came over on the Mayflower. In about 1693 when he was 33 years of age, he married his second wife, Mary Adams [1667-1706]. Their daughter; Abigail Bass-Wild [b.10/03/1697], a 4th. generation Mayflower Descendant, who was born in Braintree, Mass.

Deacon Samuel Bass was born in Braintree, Norfolk Co., Massachusetts.

Hannah Bass b. 1667
Mary Bass b. 1660
Sarah Bass b. 1672

Samuel and Mary Bass were confirmed to full communion at the First Church, Braintree, 12 7th month (September) 1667 (Alden Ge, 117). He was a member in 1711 and deacon in 1712 (Braintree 1st Ch by Bates, 4). He was a cooper (Bass Desc, 15) and served in the Indian War 1675 (Braintree Farms, #352). No probate record was found.

Note: He is not the Samuel Bass who M. Ruth Hayden 1711.

According to two significant sources, (a) "Mayflower Families Through Five Generations," Vol 16, Part 1, pg 135 & 136 & (b) "Mayflower Increasings," Alden, pg 5, Samuel was married four times. (1) Ann Kirtland - m. ~1687, their daughter Ruth was born ~1688; (2) Mercy Marsh - m. 29 Nov 1689, no children; (3) Mary Adams - m. 18 Jul 1694, five children; & (4) Bethiah Nightingale - m. 14 Oct 1706, two children.
