Aberdeen - Funeral service for Edwin Rudolph, 80, of Aberdeen will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen. Visitation will be Monday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service at the church. He died Saturday, July 9, 2005, at his home. Edwin Rudolph, son of Mathew and Sophia (Kost) Rudolph was born Nov. 16, 1924, on the family homestead 15 miles northeast of Napoleon, N.D. He attended country school and worked on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Edna Wolf on June 3, 1948, at Streeter, N.D. They made their home on his parent's farm, farming with them for nine years. In 1957, they purchased a farm between Eureka and Leola. They raised small grains and livestock. They sold their farm in March of 2000 and later moved to Aberdeen on July 12, 2002. Edwin enjoyed fishing, bowling, dancing, farming and playing pinochle. Watching boxing and westerns on television was always relaxing for him. His favorite times though, was spending time with this cat, Percy and his grandchildren. He was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church and attended First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen. Survivors include his wife of Aberdeen; four sons: Earl (Gloria) Rudolph, Darrell Rudolph and Cordell (Deb) Rudolph, all of Aberdeen, and Darcy (Laura) Rudolph of Ashley, N.D.; one daughter, Sheila (Aldeen) Ebel of Herreid; one brother, Arthur Rudolph of Jamestown; two sisters, Adeline Dockter of Aberdeen and Helen (Marvin) Weize of Norfolk, Neb.; two sisters-in-law, Ella Rudolph of Jamestown and Marie Rudolph of Moorhead, Minn.,12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His parents, three brothers, Matthew, Albert and Jake, four sisters, Emma, Kate, Alvina and Alice, one infant sister and one great-granddaughter preceded him in death. Casketbearers will be his grandchildren, Kristyne Rudolph, Eric Rudolph, Clint Ebel, Travis Ebel, Russell Ebel, Kirby Rudolph, Kayla Rudolph, Jason Rudolph and Lisa Sudlow. The family prefers memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, 502 S. Lincoln St., Aberdeen, S.D. 57401. Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory of Aberdeen have been entrusted with the arrangements.
