Birth: Dec. 3, 1916
Yakima County
Washington, USA
Death: Oct. 2, 1998
Clark County
Washington, USA

Opal and Ernest William Wright, Jr. married on March 9th, 1951 in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington. Her maiden name is Baker. Her mother was Elizabeth "Bessie" (Mitchel) Baker, Mathews, b. 1893 in Kansas. Her father, Claude Clifton Baker, b. Oct 23, 1886 in Stromsburg, Polk Co., NE, died when she was less than 3 years old. She was one of four children who lost their father when he passed on June 29, 1919 in Yakima, WA. Her mother managed the family farm, following her father's demise, per the 1920 census, as it was the family's sole means of income. In 1925, her mother remarried to Eric N. Mathews, a native of Washington, and they had 3 children from their union, the eldest b.@1927. Opal was 13 yrs. of age by this time. Opal was married first to Cecil L. Church, a native of Washington, b. Sept 22, 1911. They were blessed with a daughter in Jan. 1940 whom they named Judy E. Church. (She was born in Oregon). In April of 1940, the family lived in Chinook, Pacific Co., WA. I can only assume that their marriage ended in divorce as Cecil Church did not die until 1972. He is buried at Ilwaco Cemetery in Ilwaco, Pacific Co., WA. It would have been during this time that she joined the U S Army. Perhaps she met Ernest while she was in the Army; none the less, she and Ernest were married in 1951 and remained married to each other for the remainder of their lives. I don't know if any children were born of their union. Some information was obtained from Davidson family files & U S Censuses from 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930 & 1940. Censuses helped provide death and marriage information.
