Death: Aug. 30, 1856

The son of John Brown. One of five men who died at the Battle of Osawatomie in 1856 while fighting to end slavery. He and three other soldiers are buried beneath the monument.

The editor from the Gazette, a Wisconsin paper wrote that on 25 Feb 1862 when the 13th Wisconsin Infantry marched through the picket fence surrounding Frederick Brown and the other brothers was painted red.
