Alma Ruth (Hood) Orr died at 11:15 p.m. August 5, 2003 at the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado, Kansas. She was born September 7, 1907 in Miller, Missouri, to Walter and Ada (McKinney) Hood. She was a graduate of Miller High School and attended Springfield Teachers College, now known as SMSU. She was married to Glen Mason on September 16, 1926 until 1930. They had one son. She married Paul Orr, November 15, 1932. He died July 17, 1980. They had lived in Springfield since 1967. In 1999, she moved to Augusta, Kansas, to be near her son and his family. She was a longtime member of the Julia Rebekah Lodge #72 in Springfield, Missouri. A member of the Past Noble Grand Club and received the Rebekah Assembly Degree. She was also past president of the Patriarch Militant Department of Missouri I.O.O.F. #23. She was an active member of South Haven Baptist Church in Springfield, and attended church and Sunday School regularly until her move to Augusta, Kansas. She worked for 26 years at the Missouri State Tuberculosis Sanitarium, now Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mount Vernon. She retired as Food Service Manager. She was a dedicated and loving mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She will be missed by her son and his wife, along with her grandchildren and their wives who knew her as "Maw-Maw." She is also survived by a greatgranddaughter.
