Funeral services for Alfred Walker McGregor, former resident of Henderson county who died at his home near Walnut Springs Saturday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, according to a letter received in Athens Wednesday.
The services were conducted by the Rev. Crone of the First Christian Church and the Rev. Ward of the First Baptist church of Walnut Springs at the Union Church. Interment was in the Oaklawn cemetery at Walnut Springs.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of the Walnut Springs community.
Mr. McGregor, son of Alfred and Bershiba McGregor, was born on October 1, 1876, at McMinnville, Tennessee. He came to Texas in 1907 and had lived in Bell county and Henderson county before moving to Walnut Springs, Bosque county, in 1930.
He was well known in Henderson county, having resided in the New York and Bethel communities for several years.
He was married to Miss Annie Chastain of McMinnville, Tennessee in 1907. To this union was born five children, four sons and one daughter, all of whom survive and were at the bedside when he died.
Survivors are his wife; four sons, Louis of Houston, Bill of Grand Prairie, Gene and Sam of Walnut Springs; one daughter, Miss Mary Ruth McGregor of Fort Worth; one grandson, Glynn of Houston; two brothers, J.M. and Claude, and one sister, Mrs. Maude Dodson, all of McMinnville.
Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were Mrs. A.M. Smith and Mrs. Harris Smith of Athens, route 3; Mr. and Mrs. W.E. McGregor and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Smith of Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Ross Smith and children, Mr. and Mrs. Polk Smith and son, of Athens, route 3; Mrs. Laura Woodlee of San Antonio; Mr. and Mrs. Gorham Coker and son, and Miss Claris Arnett of Dallas; Mrs. H.S. Arnett of Murchison, route 1; Mr. and Mrs. Bill McGregor of Grand Prairie, Miss Mary Ruth McGregor of Fort Worth, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis McGregor and son, Glynn of Houston.
