Kathryn Ryan Stafford, 90, of Lynchburg, Virginia died Wednesday, February 1, 2012. She was the wife of the late Dudley Kershner Stafford.

Kathryn was born February 2, 1922 in Highmore, South Dakota the daughter of the late Jeremiah George Ryan and Laura (Reinecke) Ryan. She was valedictorian of her Highmore High School graduation class. After attending Stephens College, in Columbia, Missouri, she received her B.A. from Northwestern University, in Evanston, Illinois, where she majored in Romance Languages, which led to a lifelong interest in traveling and in Spanish.

She is survived by her children, Gregory of Akron, Kathryn and her spouse Jeffrey Crespi of Huntingtown, Maryland, Gery and his spouse, Margaret of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Marianne and her spouse, William Ramsey of Lynchburg, Virginia, Michael of Elon, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Meghan and Ross Stafford of Maryland, William Ramsey of Mobile, Alabama, Laura and Matthew Ramsey of Virginia, Ryan, Samuel and Kathryn Stafford of Elon, North Carolina.

In addition to her husband and parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by her brother, Donald G. Ryan; and her daughter, Cynthia Stafford.

She was a member of PEO and treasurer of Bedford Hills Garden Club.
