Jon A. Wentz, age 70, of Camdenton, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at his home. He was born August 10, 1941, in Leavenworth, Kansas, a son of the late George W. and Henrietta Gish Wentz.

He was united in marriage to Sue Stauss, who survives the home.

Jon was a retired elementary school teacher from the Park Hill School District in Kansas City, Missouri.

He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, riding ATV’s and hiking. He was also an Eagle Scout and later became Troop Master for Troop 370 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Jon was a member of the West Lake Christian Church in Laurie.

In addition to his wife, Sue, he is survived by his sons, Paul Wentz and companion Laurie Biswell of Sunrise Beach and Michael Wentz and wife Traci of Independence; his grandchildren, Samantha Wentz of Bolivar and Conner Wentz and Adia Wentz both of Independence; and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Wentz.

A celebration of Jon’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 29, at the West Lake Christian Church in Laurie with Reverend Gary Hagen officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., Friday, at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the West Lake Christian Church Building Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
