Second Lieutenant Veghte was the pilot of
B-25H Mitchell #43-4908, serving with the
302nd Base Unit, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.

He was one of five airmen killed when the twin
engine bomber exploded in flight and crashed,
four miles southwest of the airfield.
