Funeral services for Herman Eugene Fulton, conducted by the Rev. J. Jeannett Cooper, were held Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the Mt. Zion UM Church of Kingstree. Burial, directed by Redmond-Richardson Funeral Home, followed at Greenlawn Cemetery of Kingstree.

Mr. Fulton, formerly of Kingstree, 65, died Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Kings County Hospital of New York, New York.

He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Kingstree. He continued his Christian fellowship at churches while living in Greensboro, North Carolina, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and New York City, New York. He

graduated from Tomlinson High School in 1966. As a student, he excelled in all academic endeavors and earned the distinction as class Salutatorian.

He entered North Carolina A&T State University in September 1966. As a freshman, he was a member of the US Air Force Reserve Officer's Training Corp (ROTC). In his sophomore year, he pledged and united with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He graduated with a Bachelor's of Science (BS) degree in Business Administration in 1970. He continued his graduate studies by obtaining a Master's of Science (MS) degree in Education from New York University, New York.

In New York City, he obtained employment as an accountant in the payroll department of Medgar Evers College, a divisional campus of New York University. In this position, he worked directly for Mrs. Betty Shabazz, Director of the Department of Communication at Medgar Evers College and wife of Malcom X.

A sister, Patricia A. Fulton, preceded him in death.

Survivors are: four brothers, Richard L. Fulton, Earnest L. Fulton, Alvin L. Fulton, and Dwayne O. Fulton.
