"Wesley, son of Edwin and Eliza Canfield, was born near Manchester, Ind., Nov. 20, 1837, and died at Sparta, Ind., May 24, 1911, aged seventy-three years, six months and four days."

"He was married to Josephine Baker September 22, 1861. To this union were born one daughter, Mrs. William Prichard, and three sons- Perry, Edwin and Robert- all of whom, with one grandson, one brother and two sisters survive him."

(He was raised a Methodist and in the fall of 1862 enlisted in Company I of the Eighty-third regiment of Indiana Volunteers.)

"The funeral services were held in the Baptist Church at Sparta, Saturday, May 27, at 10 a.m., Rev. W.B. Grimes officiating."

"The body was laid to rest in the family lot at Mt. Sinai cemetery, John A. Platter Post, No. 82, of Aurora, of which he was a member, having charge."
