HETZLER, JOHN FREEMAN - Hetzler's Corner--John Freeman Hetzler, aged 74 years, 5 months and 12 days, died at his home in Kirkwood, Shelby county, Saturday, Aug. 31, 1912. He was the youngest son of George and Nancy Hetzler and was born and spent all his life in the township where he died. October 20 1861, he was united in marriage with Miss Martha Layman who with an infant son preceded him in death in 1864. He made a profession of religion in 1863, was baptized by Rev. D. E. Thomas and united with the Springcreek Baptist church where he held his membership until death. In 1866 he was united in marriage with Miss Martha Anderson. To this union one daughter was born who is now Mrs. G. N. Taylor, who together with her mother is left to mourn the loss of husband and father. He leaves two granddaughters, Mrs. Bonnie Geisseman and Miss Florence Millhouse, two great-grandchildren, Master Don and Miss Florence Geisseman, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah C. Proctor of Sidney. He was identified with the Kirkwood I. O. O. F. lodge for the last several years. The member of the lodge together with several from the Fletcher and Piqua lodges, were present at the funeral in uniform and performed the last sad ritual. Funeral was held in the residence at 2 p.m. Monday. Rev. John Howard of Hillsboro, Ohio, had charge of the services but was assisted by Rev. John T. Young, pastor of the Springcreek Baptist church. Burial was in Fletcher cemetery.
