| Birth: | 1754 | | Death: | May 18, 1818 |  US Congressman. A native of Granville County, North Carolina, he served as a Colonel in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Elected to represent South Carolina's 3rd District and as At-Large in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1793 to 1799. He was defeated in 1798. He also served as a Member of the South Carolina State House of Representatives from 1782 to 1788, County Justice from 1785 to 1791, and as a Delegate to the South Carlina State House of Representatives in 1790.
