SHAMOKIN — Marie Y. Scandle, 91, of 201 W. Mulberry St., passed peacefully in her sleep at 4:05 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, after spending the last few days surrounded by family and friends at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.

Born in Danville, Dec. 21, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Mary (Scoviak) and Lucas Pasierb.

Marie graduated from Coal Township High School in 1941.

A homemaker and loving mom and nanny, she was married to Richard Nicholas Scandle, who died in 1974.

She was a lifelong member of St. Stephen's Church, Coal Township, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She was also a "pierogie pincher" as well for many years for her church. She most recently was a parishioner of Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township.

Mrs. Scandle was extremely proud of her Polish heritage and lineage. Marie loved music and was an avid dancer. Her musical tastes ranged from polkas to big band. She loved to bake and enjoyed a good action-packed game of bingo anywhere she could find one.

Marie loved the warmth of the Florida sunshine on her back during the winter months. She loved to travel and did so extensively, both domestically and abroad, with her faithful road companion and navigator, the late John "Jason" Sweeney. She reveled in family gatherings and having her grandchildren near to her. She was blessed with good friends and will be missed by all.

Godspeed, Mom; give "Pop" and "T" our love!

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Nichole "Nikki" and Daniel Magaskie, of Ambler, and Michele and Mark Narkiewicz, of Elysburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Bo and Laura Scandle, of Coal Township; five grandchildren, Ryan Magaskie and Kelsey Magaskie, both of Philadelphia, Nicholas Banting, of Harrisburg, Lucas Banting, of Elysburg, and Cameron Scandle, of Coal Township; three great-grandchildren, Josie, Sage and Lucy; three sisters, Bobbie Pasierb and Shirley Pasierb, both of Coal Township, and Delores Shomper, of Harrisburg; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as her adopted sons from the Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School Class of 1976.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Scandle was preceded in death by a daughter, Tanya A. "T" Scandle, on April 27, 2014.
