| Birth: | Apr. 12, 1900 | | Death: | Aug. 10, 1970 |  Professional Basketball Player. A native of Yonkers, New York, he played the position of center for the Boston Celtics from 1917 to 1936. He later became a coach and coached the St. John's College team from 1936 to 1947, and then the New York Knicks from 1955 to 1966. He led them to three consecutive NBA finals appearances from 1951 to 1953. He later returned to St. John's College and coached them until 1965.
