From "The Western Christian Advocate" Vol XXV No 18, May 5, 1858, printed in Cincinnati, Ohio:
March 19-In Hancock county, Ohio, MARY MACKRILL, in the ninety-first year of her age.
She was born in Baltimore county, Maryland, in June 1767. At the early age of thirteen she consecrated herself to the service of the Lord. She was converted, and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, under the labors of Rev. Freeborn Garretson, in 1780, of which she remained a faithful member till death. She often expressed a desire to see some of her fourth generation; but her most ardent desire was to see our holy Christianity, in the form of Methodism-with the interest of which she had been indentified from its infancy-spread its blessed influences over these lands. In the providence of God she was permitted to realize her desires. She lived to see her children's children's children, "and peace upon Israel." For several years before her death she struggled under the infirmities of age. For some months before her departure her sight failed her; but she could hear, and talk, and feel. She conversed freely about dying. The thought of death was a welcome one, though she did not murmur at her sufferings. She was perfectly resigned to the will of God, and when the hour of her departure came she calmly
"Leaned her head on Jesus' breast, And breathed her life out sweetly there."
