Almira's son wrote in a deposition dated 24 Feb 1910 that his mother "died from burns from forest fires" about February 2, 1909, "that she got burnt and lived nine days after." The librarian in Ocala searched February newspapers and noted that they reported that it was very dry but there was no report of a forest fire during February.
