Veale, Geo. Washington--Born, Daviess Co., Ind. May 20, 1833; son of James C. and Eleanor A. (Aikman) Veale;

educated Wabash Coll., 2 years;
married Nannie Johnson, Jan. 20, 1857; to Kansas in the spring of 1857; mem. firm of Hamilton and Co.,

Topeka; 1861 was capt. of 4th Kan. Vol. Cav.;
1862, was major of 6th Kan. Mil.;

commissioner for sale of state lands, 1866, tax commissioner, U.P. RR, for some time;
one of the incorporators of the Santa Fe RR.;
one of the organizers of the Topeka Bank and Savings Institute, now the Bank of Topeka;

owner of the Veale Block;
was mem. Kan. Legislature in both house and senate 16 years; to Topeka, 1864; pres. Shawnee Co.
