The death occurred over the week-end of Mrs. Emily Woodgate, aged 65, wife of Mr. William Woodgate, of Birkdale Cleveland line, at the St. Helen's Private Hospital, South Brisbane, after a painful illness. The late Mrs. Woodgate was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Franklin, pioneers of the Hemmant district, and of where she was born. Mrs. Woodgate was a prominent worker in all matters pertaining to the Methodist Church, and its welfare, and was deeply respected, in the Birkdale and surroundings districts, by all who came in contact with her. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon to the Hemmant Cemetery, where the service was conducted by the Revs. W. H. Harrison and A. E. Tempest. A short service was also held at the funeral parlour. A large gathering of friends were at the ceme tery, and messages of sympathy and wreaths were received from the following: "From her loving husband," Flo, and George Woodgate, Willie and Edie Woodgate, Mr. and Mrs. Weeks and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Abell, Mr. and Mrs. J.
