Fern Elaine Pridgen Barron, 90, of Cuero passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011. She was born July 18, 1920 in Thomaston to the late Oscar Pridgen and Helen Wolter Pridgen Bosewetter. In 1945, Elaine was with the Civil Service and was dispatched to Hickam Field in Oahu, Hawaii where she met her husband. She wed her late husband, Ed Barron, in 1949. Through self study, she became a certified medical records technician. She worked at the Davis/High Clinic, Cuero Community Hospital, and Burns Hospital for many years until her retirement. Elaine spent much of her time creating paintings and became an award winning artist.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sisters, Phyllis Frank, Anne Pridgen, Helen Fetters, and Gloria Rice; and brother, Wiley Pridgen.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 6, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be held Monday, February 7, 2011, 2 p.m., at Freund Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lindenau Community Cemetery. There will be a reception at St. Mark's Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the graveside services.
