Dorothy M. (Granny Dot) Vess, age 84, of Gatlinburg, died Friday, July 31, 2014 at Leconte Medical Center. She was a member of West End Baptist Church. She retired from Detroit Gasket and volunteered at a Day Care Center where she was known as (Granny Dot). She also loves clogging.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred M. Vess and parents, Cecil and Jetta B. Rea.
She is survived by her son, Freddy Michael (Larune) Vess; daughter, Debbie Vess Marine; sisters Diana (the late Doyle) Arrowood and Linda (Dot, Jr.) Ramsey; grandchildren, Felix M. (Tonya) Vess and Rebecca D. (Brad) Boruff; great grandchildren, Katie Vess, Chelsie, Bradlynn Boruff and soon to be Breeza; special friends, April Kay and Boyd; several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Tullock officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm Sunday prior to funeral service. Manes Funeral Home in Charge.
