SALTVILLE, Va. George Edward Straley, 73, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion. He was born in Pearisburg, Va., and was preceded in death by his father, Charles Goodlow Straley; and a sister, Shelby Jean Straley. He had worked at Carolina Furniture in Wytheville and Pulaski and loved baseball and car racing. Survivors include his wife, Betty Austin Wyrick Straley; mother, Opal Moore Straley of Chilhowie, Va.; two sons, Charles Edward Straley and friend, Donna Luckadoo, of Dublin, Va., and Anthony Dillan Henley Straley of Marion, Va.; grandchildren, Angel and Ryan Fuller of Chesterfield, Va.; step daughter, Michelle Guilliams Boyd of Christiansburg, Va.; step sons, John Guilliams of Salem, Va., Lee Guilliams of Salem, Va.; three step grandchildren; nephew, Joseph Edward Straley; great-niece and nephew, Opal Straley and Charles Straley; special friends, Reno and Melinda Boone, Lisa and Robert Henley, Friends at the Apple Tree Restaurant. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday July 30, 2014, at the Bradley's Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie with Pastor Randy Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until - 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, at Rose Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum with Pastor Bryan Taylor officiating. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania, NW, Suite 800 Washington, DC 2004.
