William Bridges, formerly of this town, died at the Soldiers' Home at Bennington, Jan. 11. He was born at St. Albans in 1815, his father being the judge of probate and a prominent man of that town. Mr. Bridges enlisted in the Second United States Infantry in 1842, serving a year and a half, a part of his service being in the Seminole Indian war in Floriday. He served in the civil war as private in Company I, 12th Vermont regiment. He was admitted to the Soldiers' Home several years ago, and had been confined to his bed during his long stay there. He leaves two sons, William W. and Granville F. Bridges, both of this town."
