US Congressman. Elected to represent Maine's 1st District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1835 to 1837. He was defeated in 1836. He also served as Presidential Elector from Massachusetts in 1808, Member of the Massachusetts State House of Representatives from 1811 to 1814, and as a Probate Judge from 1816 to 1820, and 1820 to 1834.
