From the 6/13/1919 Van Wert, Ohio, Times: "A.J. Bope, a well-known resident of the city, died suddenly Thursday evening in Toledo where he has been for several weeks. Mrs. Bope was with him at the time of his death and arrived home this afternoon with the body. The deceased was a member of the Methodist church and had been a lifelong and active member of the Odd Fellows lodge. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Bert Robey. Private funeral services will be held at the home of Mrs. Robey Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, but friends may view the remains from 10 to 12 Saturday."
