Actor. He was born in Barry (Wales) and died in Watford (Hertfordshire). He began his career on stage in 1917, where permormed until his death, from comedies to Shakespeare's dramas. In cinema, he is best remembered for films such as The Four Feathers (1921), Rembrandt (1936), The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943), I Know Where I'm Going! (1945), A Matter of Life and Death (1945), The Master of Ballantree (1953), The League of Gentlemen (1959), The Amorous Adventures of Moll Flanders (1965), Hamlet (1969) and Futtocks End (1970).
