Marvin Malkowski, 84, Dancy/Knowlton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.
He was born January 20, 1930 in Dancy, son of the late Charles "Ky" and Lillian (Botwinski) Malkowski. Marvin attended the Dancy School and Mosinee High School, graduating in 1947. He graduated from Stevens Point State College (now known as the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point) in 1951. Marvin was drafted into the Korean War and served from October 2, 1951 to October 1, 1963. During the war he was a sergeant and was stationed at Camp Pendelton in Oceanside, California and at Marine Barracks in Jacksonville, Florida.
After the Korean War, he worked with his father, Charles "Ky" Malkowski and together they ran Dancy Sand and Gravel. On October 15, 1966 he married Ingeborg Lowe in Knowlton. Together they raised three children in the Dancy area. From 1971-1986 he worked for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue as a tax assessor. He later became a private tax assessor working for various towns and villages in the central and northern Wisconsin area, retiring in 2011. Marvin's hobbies included working, researching family history and always being quick to crack a joke and embarrassing his children to no end.
Survivors include his wife, Ingeborg Malkowski; three children, Annette (Todd) Czerneski, Marvin (Terrie) Malkowski Jr. and Brian (Karen) Malkowski; three granddaughters, Amanda Leslie, Carissa and Kendra Czerneski; one grandson, Joshua Czerneski; and one great-granddaughter, Abbigail Leslie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son; Albert Malkowski.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, July 14, 2014 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Knowlton. Rev. Norman Boneck will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Friends may call from 10:30 am Monday until the time of the service at the church.
Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is in charge of arrangements.
The Malkowski family extends a thank you to everyone at the Aspirus Hospice House and the caretakers at Ministry Saint Clare's Hospital.
