Commander Melvin V. Frizzell, age 53, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 1997 at Kobacker House following a courageous six month bout with cancer. He was currently Commander of Technical Services with Columbus Division of Police with over 30 years of service. Survived by his son, Michael Frizzell; mother, Kathryn Frizzell; sister, Vivian Frizzell; brother, James Frizzell; loving and caring companion, Judy Harrington. Preceded in death by his wife Janet K. Frizzell and father Norm (Duke) Frizzell. He was a 1961 graduate of North High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Dominican College in 1987. Veteran U.S. Air Force. He was a member of F.O.P. Lodge and several other professional associations. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., where funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday. Entombment St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Those who wish may contribute to Kobacker House, 3595 Olentangy River Rd., Columbus, Oh. 43214 or to a charity of choice for cancer research, in his memory. F.O.P. Lodge service will be held 7 p.m. Sunday at Northwest Chapel.
