Robert, 94, passed away early Saturday morning, July 5, 2014. The angels of God escorted the Rev. Robert Kyle Blaine, Jr. to his mansion in Heaven. Robert was the son of Robert K. and Anna C. Romey Blaine. He had two sisters, Mabel and Cleo, and five brothers, Raymond, William, John, Ralph, and Franklin.

Robert married Virginia (Royse) Blaine October 9, 1943, and they shared a loving relationship for 66 years. To this union was born one son, James A. Blaine of Chillicothe, and one daughter, Jacalyn and Tim Emerick of Greenfield. Robert and Virginia also raised Robert's brother, Franklin Blain of Wichita, Kansas.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, four brothers, and daughter-in-law Cheryl Blaine.

Besides his children and brother, Franklin, Robert is survived by four grandchildren: Jini and Vince Parker of South Salem, Steve Emerick of Greenfield, Luiza and Steve Whiteside of London, and Mark and Desiree Blaine of Austin, Texas. Robert is also survived by four great grandchildren: Cameron and Elizabeth Whiteside and Hudson and Blaine Parker, and by a host of other family and friends.

Robert graduated from McClain High School, and did his college work at Huntington College, Huntington, Indiana. He pastored for 62 years at churches in Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, and Kansas, including 23 years at the United Brethren Church in Greenfield. Thousands came to know Jesus as their Savior under his ministry. His door was always open to those in need, and his records indicate he married over 3,000 couples, and performed over 2,000 funerals.

For several years Robert served as a District Coordinator, supervising a number of other pastors. He served on numerous boards in Highland county including the Greenfield School Board, the Great Oaks School Board, the Greenfield Area Ministerial Association, and the governing board of Greenhills. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Community Care Hospice, Wilmington, Ohio.

Bobby Blaine graduated from Huntington College, where he engineered the most legendary prank in school history: taking a cow to the top of the Administration Building (now called Becker Hall).

Beginning in 1948, he pastored churches in Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, and Kansas. His longest tenure, 1964-1987, was as pastor of Good Shepherd UB church in Greenfield, Ohio. He retired from that church, and continued living in Greenfield until his death.

The funeral was held on Wednesday, July 9, at Anchor Baptist Church, Washington Court House, Ohio.
