Sue Mebane, of Avery, Texas, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, in a Texarkana, Texas care center. She was 86.

Sue was born March 1, 1928, in De Kalb, Texas, to Lewis Winfield and Helen Gould Texas Robertson Pope. She was a retired City Secretary from the City of Avery, Texas and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James William "Bill" Mebane.

Sue is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim and Barbara Mebane of Flower Mound, Texas and Jason Mebane of Texarkana, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Joe Ross Miller of Avery, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Sandra Pope of De Kalb, Texas; a sister, Mary Scherer of Waukesha, Wisconsin; 4 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Robby Bates and Nona Green officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery.
