(December 25, 1937 - July 4, 2014)
Carrie "Geneva" Dunn, age 76, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at Jefferson County Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Dunn; mother, Fannie Bryant Dunn; brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Agnes McAllister; sisters, Blanche and Sarah Dunn brother-in-law, Earl Hurst; nephew, Eddie McAllister; and great-niece, Stacy Hall.
She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Hurst of Sevierville, TN; additional survivors include several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and several cousins. Geneva spent her life serving and taking care of others. She baby-sat children of the community and sat with the elders in their homes. She had an unconditional love, was an example of turning the other cheek, and she had great bonds of forgiveness toward other people. Geneva had many friends among the residents and visitors at the nursing home. There is no way to express all the love and kindness shared by Geneva and the employees of the Jefferson County Nursing Home, especially, Brian, Mary, Amanda, Denise, Penny, Shirley, Debbie and others too numerous to name. The members of the Jefferson County Emergency Systems became like family to her, and we knew she was in good hands with them.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Manes Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Sunday, July 6, 2014 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jerry Fancher and Rev. Clay Sutton officiating. Interment will follow in the Hartsell Cemetery in Cosby, TN. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
