Husband of Anna Maria AMENT (1767-1849)

Casper TROUT, my 3rd great grandfather, was born to Johann Paul TRAUT and wife Catrina Margreth unknown in what is now Lower Windsor Twp, York, PA in about 1764, and moved to Loudoun County, VA by about 1769 where he later married Anna Maria AMENT 12 Dec 1787. Casper and his young family briefly moved to near Strasburg, Shenandoah, VA in 1789, returning to Loudoun County in 1796. The family then moved to the headwaters of Fort Run, Rockingham, VA in 1809, then on to what became Bearfield Twp, Perry, OH in 1816, then finally settling in near Deavertown, York Twp, Morgan, OH in 1818 where they lived until their deaths in Feb 1837 and Aug 1849 respectively.

Casper TROUT is buried next to his loving wife, Anna Maria "Mary Ann" or "Molly" AMENT TROUT. The center of Casper's gravestone is now shelled out from constant freeze-thaw cycles over the years and only the edges can be clearly read.

Casper's given name is sometimes spelled "Gasper" or "Gaspar," but the "Casper" spelling was by far the most frequent spelling used during his lifetime.

Casper's ancestors were Palatines from the Saarbrücken, Saarland, Germany region, and ultimately of Viking or Nordic origins (based on Y-DNA testing).

Casper TROUT's father, Johann Paul TRAUT, is documented as "Line #3" in the TROUT-DNA Research Project.
