Robert E. Schmidlap

Robert E. Schmidlap, 82, of Indianapolis, died Monday, May 7, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital Center in Beech Grove.

He was born Dec. 17, 1918, in Jefferson County, the son of Fred Lincoln and Stella Grace Jordan Schmidlap. He was employed for 30 years as an agent for the Internal Revenue Service before retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Southport Baptist Church.

Surviving are one son, Steven Schmidlap of Eureka, Mo., and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Betty Schmidlap.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Kent Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Ave., Indianapolis.

Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
