SHERMAN E. STICKNEY
Sherman E. Stickney, who was one of the first settlers in Sherman Township in Gladwin County, died Friday, Nov. 4,at the home of his daughter,Mrs. Charles Tolles at Thetford Center, Genessee oounty, after an illness of 3 years.
Funeral services were held the Monday following at the house, Rev.A.T. Camburn of Clio officiating and burial took place at Thetford Center.
Mr. Stickney was born in Wood county, Ohio, Feb. 26,1849, and was married to Miss Elizabeth Wickham in Ohio Dec. 27, 1868, and came to Michigan the following spring. They resided in Gladwin county many years, first in Sherman township in early days and later in Tobacco township, and recently went from there to live with his daughter, Mrs. Tolles, at Thetford Center. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters and four sons; Mrs. C.S. Tolles of Thetford, Mrs. Henry E. Bruner of Tobacco township; George and Harley Stickney of Flint,William Stickney of Escanaba,and Horace Stickney of Gladwin; also 33 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren to mourn his loss. Mr. Stickney was a member of Beaverton lodge F. & A.M. and Gladwin lodge I.0.0.F.
He was the son of Oscar Stickney & Marilla Stocking.
