John Sargeant/Sargent is the son of John Sargeant (1739-1827) and Fear Gibbs (1743-1799). At 18 he entered Revolutionary War, In 1781 he was captured by British and imprisoned in Quebec for 8 months and returned to Norwich, VT, studied medicine and later moved to Dorset.
