Sharon Farrell grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. She was the oldest child of Donald Francis Farrell and Maureen Bickert Farrell. She had one younger brother, Gary Patrick Farrell. She married Kenneth LaVerne Meyer on February 15, 1958 at St. Margaret Mary Church, the same parish where she went to elementary school. Her first son, Michael Meyer, was born nine months and eight days after she married. She had six more pregnancies; two of the babies miscarried. Her other children included another son, Patrick Meyer, and three daughters, Laurie Meyer Thomas, Jeanne Castle, and Shari Meyer Hastings. In June 1966, the family relocated from Omaha to the Santa Clara Valley in California. Kenneth Meyer died on July 15, 1987 when Sharon Meyer was just 50. She was a widow for 25 years, spending most of that time in Henderson and later, Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a large and looming personality, who loved ferociously. She died at home, surrounded by her things. Her daughter Laurie, who always had a special relationship with her, was with her at the end. Sharon Meyer had colon cancer, type 2 diabetes, emphysema, and congestive heart failure.
