Daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia Pacca Blondi, she was born May 14, 1923 in Patterson, N.J. She was married to John Abbruscato, who predeceased her on October 20, 2004.
A family statement reads: 'Marie or Mickey to all who loved her, is now happily in heaven with John, her loving husband of 62 wonderful years. Mickey, famous for her cooking Italian meals for friends and family, will be greatly missed. Mickey had special affection for her granddaughters, Virginia, Marie, Suzanne, Jennifer, Anastasia, Elyse, Claire, Allison and Angela, who all had the best cooking lessons throughout their lives. Her grandsons, Jonathan, Joseph, Joel, Justin, Josh, John, Shea and Chris, always had a special place in her heart. Proud to have "ownership" of 9 ½ great-grandchildren, all knew she loved them deeply. Playing cards with her friends at the Senior Citizen's Club, playing pinochle on Saturday nights, and watching the Game Show Network, were her passions, keeping her "sharp as a tack". She will continue to be with her family and the community with every bite of her "Momma Maria's Meatballs'."
Marie was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church.
Survivors include her loving sons, John Abbruscato Jr. and his wife, Anne, of New Windsor, Joseph Abbruscato of Phoenix, Ariz., Thomas Abbruscato and his wife, Desiree, of Newburgh, and Frank Ceriello and his wife, Kitti, of New Windsor; her sister, Carmie Edwards of Joshua, Texas; her brother, James Blondi and his wife, Dorothy; 17 grandchildren; 9 ½ great-grandchildren; and several nieces nephews and cousins.
