Mr. Kennedy started as an apprentice pressman with the F. A. Owen Co. here in 1909. In 1945 he was named press-room foreman and had served in that capacity ever since.
A Democrat, Mr. Kennedy served as village clerk, an appointive position, for 17 years. He retired from that job in 1958 when the clerk and treasurer offices were combined.
A former trustee of St. Mary's Church, he was a member of Dansville Council 785 Knights of Columbus. He also belonged to the Holy Name Society at St. Mary's.
A life member and past president of the Protectives Fire Co., Mr. Kennedy was a director and assistant secretary of the Protectives corporation. He was a member and past president of the 25-Year Club at the Owen Co.
Surviving are his wife, the former Laura Schwingel; two sisters, Sister Miriam Joseph of the Order of St. Joseph and Sister Agnes Miriam of the Order of the Sisters of Mercy, both of Rochester; two nieces and a nephew.
A prayer service in the Johnson Funeral Home preceded Requiem High Mass in St. Mary's Church Saturday.
The Rev. John Merklinger officiated, assisted by the Rev. Msgr. Emmett Murphy of Elmira, the Rev. Edward J. Eschrich and the Rev. Daniel Hogan, both of Rochester, the Rev. John Murphy of Mt. Morris and the Rev. Thomas O'Keefe.
