Rose B. Kohlman June 17, 2014 Rose B. Kohlman Rose B. Kohlman, age 81 of Plum City, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Spring Valley Health Care Center in Spring Valley. Rose was born on January 14, 1933 in the Town of Tainter, rural Menomonie. She was the daughter of Joseph and Grace (Steies) Schumacher. Rose grew up on Tainter Lake and graduated from Menomonie High School 1951. She married Lawrence “Pete” Kohlman on September 10, 1953 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Menomonie. After marriage they moved to Menomonie for several years. In 1966, they purchased a farm in the Lund area of rural Plum City where they farmed and raised their family. Rose worked at as waitress at a truck stop in South St. Paul, MN for several years before taking a job at Riddell’s Shoes in Red Wing, MN for 14 years.
Pete passed away in 1991 and Rose moved into Plum City, where she lived the rest of her life. Rose was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Plum City, she was a member of PCCW and was a greeter at many funerals. She was a member of the Plum City American Legion Post #365 Ladies Auxiliary. Rose loved crafts, making quilts, baking and Christmas time. In her earlier years, she enjoyed playing cards and dancing. In her later years, Rose learned to drive, she was very proud of that accomplishment and enjoyed going on drives. Rose is survived by her five children, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandson, one sister, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Pete, one son; Ken, one great granddaughter; Jessica McQuiston and two sisters; Harriet Denning and Frances McCarthy. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday, June 21, 2014 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Plum City. Rev. Paul G. Czerwonka will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Rhiel Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Durand, is serving the family.
