Buffalo; husband of the late Jane Wheeler O'Brian, father of Mrs. Richard C. Angell of Terre Haute, Ind., Mrs. George H. Selkirk of East Aurora, Mrs. Pliny H. Hayes III and Mrs. Paul H. Dellinger, both of Buffalo; he is also survived by 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brother of John Lord and Alice Lord O'Brian.
A memorial service will take place at Trinity Church, Delaware Ave., Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.

R. L. O'Brian Dies at 86; Broker Here
Roland Lord O'Brian, 86, Buffalo investment broker for more than 50 years, died Sunday in his home at 256 North St. Mr. O'Brian, who opened his investment firm in 1918 on lower Main St. and who, during a flourishing business just before the Depression built an office building (now the Bank of Buffalo)at 17 Court St., was still working daily in his office in the Liberty Bank Bldg. Man of Year In April 1968, Mr. O'Brian was named "Man of the Year" by the Harvard Club of Buffalo for "his humanitarian and altruistic character." For many years Mr. O'Brian, a 1907 graduate of Harvard, had served as head of the university's Western New York scholarship committee. Mr. O'Brian, a Buffalo native and lifelong resident, was a graduate of the University of Buffalo Law School. He was the first head of the Legal Bureau of Buffalo and, for many years, was chairman of the board of the Salvation Army.
During World War II. Mr. O'Brian served as a colonel in the Army Air Corps. He formerly was a board director for Northrup Aircraft and the former Penn Central Airlines Co.
Mr. O'Brian was the brother of John Lord O'Brian, 95, a Buffalo attorney living in Washington who has served as general counsel for the Office of War Production.
